cut it or leave it?

8/3/12

my hair is seriously getting out of control, and i just don't know what to do with it. i love the length, i just never know what to do with it. i've been going back and forth trying to figure out if i should cut it or just leave it. i am seriously thinking of getting straight bangs (to go with my chubby cheeks), and maybe just layering it out, but i really don't know? i'll probably be spending the morning on pinterest trying to find the perfect hairdo. help!

I just went through the same ordeal with my hair! It was really long and just sort of boring, but I did like the length.

So I had them take just a couple of inches off the length, then add some layers and side bangs (I originally wanted straight bangs but after a year of leaving my hair parted in the center every day my hair just wouldn't allow them! haha). Now it still has the length but has much more interest. I actually look like I have a style!

please don't cut it before i braid it! haha, of course you can if you want... but i would have a lot of fun with those thick, long locks of yours! :)

i think bangs would look great!

oh, i know your dilemma. i haven't cut my hair in almost a year. not even a trim. it's bad, but i just don't have a clue what to do. however, i love bangs and those are the only things i do cut. i do it myself though.

i had a similar dilemma with my hair recently too. but i read somewhere that lengths that go beyond the middle of your back end up looking tacky. with that in mind, i had my hair trimmed to about two-three inches below my shoulders. then i got a few layers and a bit of that side-swept-bangs look to kinda break things up. having layers is great because they give your hair some volume and help you avoid that greasy hippie look. :) and the bangs are great for an up-do but can easily be tied back with a bobby-pin or two. oh, also, i have my stylist part my hair to one side and then cut the layers and bangs because it softens the look and is often prettier looking than a part down the middle. well, for myself anyway :)
by the way, your hair color is gorgeous. :D

I find that short hair is more maintenance. Two words... top bun!

ooh i second the top bun/top knot. i think that would look so cute on you, and it's really easy to create.

i also like the idea of adding layers and bangs! they can instantly make hair seem more stylish!

leave it long but get a trim. then go for the bangs, girl. have some bangs to frame your face. it would be ADORABLE.

I was having the same problem with my hair. I was bored with it being pretty much one length. It was so long that I would roll over on it in my sleep or the cats would lay on it and that was annoying. If I put it in a braid while I slept it gave me a huge knot in my neck/shoulder. I finally decided to cut it. I had three inches cut off and lots of layers added along with side bangs. I've had this hairstyle before and I really like it. The shorter length (though it's still pretty long) and layers really lets my wave come out. Looking forward to seeing what you do! :)
